Giovanna (or Gio) is a 22-year-old artist living in Lisbon, working from home in her "StuGio," accompanied by her cat, Luna.

Giovanna was born in Buenos Aires to Brazilian parents, grew up in the United States, lived for five years in Italy, and in 2021 chose Portugal as her home.

Giovanna was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 13.

Gio's artistic work focuses on animals. Her colorful and unconventional drawings have the power to convey emotions and spark the imagination of those who view them. By using animals, the artist explores important themes such as freedom, acceptance, respect, love, authority, and power.

In the early years of her budding career, around 2009, the artist worked almost exclusively with colored pencils while always experimenting with other techniques.

Since 2020, Gio has been creating digital art, leading to the development of a new creative style. During the first phase of her career, her work focused on animals from her everyday life, those seen in zoos, or those found in images published in books and/or online. In recent years, her artistic production has shifted toward depicting an imaginary animal world that combines animal imagery with elements of daily life (food, plants, objects, etc.). For each drawing in this second phase, Gio assigns names—always in English—that describe her creations, usually by merging two words in a fun and clever wordplay.

In September 2024, the artist held her first exhibition in Brasília in collaboration with renowned photographer Celso Júnior. On this occasion, her works were digitized and enlarged in various sizes, creating a significant impact and achieving great commercial success. The pieces presented are part of this website and are available in a limited edition of only five copies, ensuring their exclusivity.
